Cryptid cupid

On a quiet walk in a peaceful park
Feeling lonely without a love,
Suddenly Bigfoot appeared before me
With a translucent bow and arrow
Aimed directly at me.
Stunned, shocked, I froze.

Bigfoot pulled back the bow string
And fired the translucent arrow
Directly into my racing heart
Without an entry or exit wound,
Without me being hurt or dead.
I can only say it was magical.

Instead of pain, I felt bliss
And the translucent arrow
Had vanished within me,
Leaving me feeling lovestruck.

A moment later you appeared.
When our blue eyes locked,
I knew it was true love,
And I’m forever grateful
To a cryptid cupid for you.

Remembering You

Butterflies flutter in blooming sunflowers.
Squirrels tightrope on telephone wires.
Crows darken clear, cloudless skies.
Blue Jays sound alarms in sycamore trees.
Rabbits seek refuge in nearby bushes.
Cars rumble along neighborhood roads.
My mind drifts to sweet, summer days
When our love was so incredibly alive.

My Tormented Heart

At seventy one, sadly love seems
To have drained out of your life.
Maybe like me with age-reduced testosterone
You have age-reduced estrogen.
Maybe unlike me, older than you,
That reduction has dimmed your ardor.
But if only you could see
How the sparks of a new romance
Would set your passion ablaze
Feeling young and in love again.
I’m standing here enamored,
Offering all that and more to you.
But like many ladies your age,
For whatever reasons, you’ve
Given up on romance.
O my tormented heart.

Reunion

I remember her last resigned gasp,
The awful rattling in her throat
The end of her, the end of everything,
Without her, I wanted to die too.
For ten years I’ve had endless laments
Never ceasing in my love for her,
Never loving another woman,
True to her as if she never died.
Now with a deadly stage 4 cancer
My diseased life coming to an end
I hear a voice, see a pretty face
My Love smiling and waiting for me.

This Is True Love

Home from the Vietnam War, two tours,
Wheelchair confined, broken body, traumatized mind.
High School sweetheart wife waited through the
Years, the tears, the fears. Cared For him,
Stayed with him, loved him through PTSD,
Times of depression and despair, hospital stays,
Many health problems, her love, her caring unwavering
Through it all till at age sixty-eight when he died,
Wife at his bedside. Could love be truer than that?

Soulmates

So many find their soulmates
Years later a different story
Breakups and divorces
Forever lost loves
Instead of forever loves
Maybe Cupid is a trickster
When with the pull of his bow
He shoots fake love arrows
Into the hearts of so many

Lasting Love

It was great
at
first
couldn’t
get
enough
of
each
other.

That lasted
a loving
six months
until the
ardor began
to wane.

Little things I
did bothered you
and versa vice
for me too.

Because we acted like
adults we’re still together
through the hard times
through the lasting times.

Your Love

Remember the song You Didn’t Have to Be so Nice by the Loving Spoonfuls?
That’s how I still feel about you.
You came into my life on a dark, downcast day.
The woman I thought was the love of my life left me, and I felt so down and gloomy.
Until you showed up.
Years later when an auto accident put me in a wheelchair for the rest of my life, half a man, felt like killing myself, thought my life was over, and I’d lose you.
Until you showed up.
And loved me even more, always there for me, taking care of me, never leaving me.
And I believe you’ll still be there for me In the afterlife.
When I’ll be a whole man again, and I’ll be there for you; and I’ll love you even more.

True Love Beyond Things and Places

The song I’d Rather Ride Around with you by Reba Macintyre
Fills my heart with such happiness, makes me wish life could be
Filled with that kind of happiness every day in everyone’s life
And it’s my idea of the greatest real and true love;
No need for fancy things or exotic places,
Distractions that pale
Compared to just being together.
The incomparable joy
Of our hearts entwined
In a simple pleasure
Riding in that car, more than enough.
Our love providing all the excitement,
All the entertainment we’d ever need.
Our love forever and ever and ever
Beyond all those things and diversions
That others crave and need
That could never compare
To the happiness, the love
We have just being together.
And I’d rather ride around with you.

Real Love

My love for you is so pure, so true, so strong that
I could even love you beyond the pleasures,
the ecstasies, of consummated physical love –
platonically.

My love for you is a higher everlasting love beyond
the ravishes of aging, the illnesses, the infirmities,
the declining passions, beyond anything and everything –
unendingly.

I love you immeasurably, and as long as you want me to,
I will keep on loving you no matter our trials or our fates,
and I will cherish you and love you always and –
eternally.

My Love

There are mystics
who say love is the way
to total liberation,
becoming one with God and
getting off the wheel of rebirth,
living forever in eternal bliss.

I love the thought of that.
I’d love to be one with God
and get off the wheel of rebirth
and live forever in eternal bliss.
But, honestly, my love,
I’d rather stay on the wheel
and keep coming back to this life,
forever … in love with you.

I Love Your Ways

The way you wear your hair
The way you smile
The way your voice is uniquely pleasing
The way you are enjoyably mellow
The way your personality is enchanting
The way you are spontaneously funny
The way you have a lovely fashion sense
The way you are always cheerful
And the way you are a delightful person
Who gladdens many hearts
And makes everywhere you are so wonderful.
Bob Boyd

My Love for You

My love for you was immeasurable
like boundless infinity

My love for you was forever
like never ending eternity

My love for you was unwavering
like stars always shining

But you strayed off course
like a comet falling
from the heavens

And everything
we had
was gone
forever
like
that comet
that
burnt out
and died
alone.

Bob Boyd

love, planets, and comets

sitting on my front porch at night
gazing at the stars above
and wondering about adorable you.
will we be like star crossed lovers
or destined to spin away from each other
like lovelorn passing planets?
or will love bring us into each other’s orbit
and make us soulmates for an eternity?
or will we be like passing comets,
that burn out and are gone forever?
all i know for sure … is that i love you.

Love Beyond the Grave

He saw her photo in the news
22 and dead
In an auto accident
Something about her
Captured his heart
A nameless
Undefinable thing
He found the location of her grave
Visited her with flowers
He placed at her grave
Felt compelled to keep visiting her grave
It was an afterlife infatuation
That grew and grew and grew
Two months later she began appearing in his dreams
Every night a dream date
Now he knows for sure
He’ll be with her when he dies

Loveliest of All You

I love how our love is growing as effortlessly as an unfurled, fluttering flag.
I’m enraptured with each increasingly wonderful moment we’re having together.
As the world keeps turning like my heart keeps turning toward yours,
As the stars keep winking at us in the nighttime romantic skies,
As the sun keeps shining sunnier and sunnier loving our budding love,
As the moon keeps glowing brighter, joyous about our increasing happiness.
This is something more than just mundane romantic love.
This is the like a cosmic event with our stars finally aligning
And our twin souls finally uniting after so many incomplete loves
When our destined love seemed as distant as a lone star in another galaxy
And I felt as lonely and distant throughout my life waiting for the truest love
Being without incredible, wonderful, beautiful, incomparable loveliest of all you.
